Melinda Ciarabellini, Past-President of the Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka,  Shelley Nilsen, Vocational Chair for the club’s Board of Directors, club President Matt Nilsen and fellow Rotarian Humboldt County Sheriff William F. Honsal III awarded the club's Service Above Self Award to Cadet Timothy Del Fiorentino during December's College of the Redwoods 120th Law Enforcement Academy graduation ceremony.   The award was presented to Cadet Del Fiorentino in recognition of his dedication to public service and his reliable willingness to support other cadets in training assignments with generosity and professionalism, according to Ciarabellini.  He was nominated and selected to receive the award by his fellow cadets.   Cadet Del Fiorentino received a plaque and a $1000 cash award to offset training and equipment costs.  “ 'Service Above Self’ is the motto of Rotarians,” said Ciarabellini, “and it is our honor to recognize Cadet Del Fiorentino, someone whose conduct during training exemplifies the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics and the Rotary’s guiding principle of service.”  Ciarabellini thanked each of the 22 graduating cadets “in advance, for your dedicated service to public safety and your communities.”  The Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka award is presented twice each year to a graduating cadet.  (Pictured, left to right: Rotarians Ciarabellini and Shelley Nilsen, Sheriff Honsal, Cadet Del Fiorentino, Rotarian Matt Nilsen.)
