“I'm talking satin, fire and ice; Fred Astaire in a glass; surgical cleanliness, insight..comfort; redemption and absolution. I’m talking MARTINI.” Anonymous

Martinis, the classic version and the dirty version of the quintessential American cocktail, as well as those with a more eccentric twist, will be both shaken and stirred on Thursday, June 7, 5PM – 7PM at the Wharfinger Building in Eureka.

The thirteenth version of “Martinis By The Bay” will be presented by the Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka.  The evening is a signature event for the club and an afternoon eagerly anticipated by cocktail fans.  It features mixologists on loan from twelve of the premier dining and cocktail-purveying establishments in Humboldt County, all mixing their signature cocktails.

Featured cocktails will include Gabriel's Citrus Martini, an annual favorite, and Gabriel's Surprise, a quaffable tribute to Humboldt distilleries.  Cafe Waterfront brings the brine with its perfect Dirty Martini and blows cold with its Golden Trumpet.  Salt Fish House will reprise a crowd favorite—the exotic Thai Me Up.   The fresh and frisky Blackberry Smash, introduced by Restaurant 301, will chase the chill and summon the sun.  The Ingomar Club updates a classic with its Ingomar Sweet Manhattan while Ernie's mixes a pair of cocktails – the Marzipantini and the Jewell Gibson.  Dave's Place brings the heat with Hot Nectar.  And the triple-threat, triple-fruit  Pomegranate Cranberry Lemondrop will be offered by Shamus T Bones.  AA Bar & Grill orders up the AA Manhattan while Campground settles in with a bevy of Happy Campers.  The North of Fourth cheerfully  lights it up with its Desoto and Bink Pikini while The Sea Grill sweeps in with the bluster and the sass of a Sea Grill Hurricane.

Appetizers from Uniquely Yours will be enjoyed by guests while music with a Cuban beat sets a Little Havana theme for the evening.

"And all in support of a great local project that is doing very good work in our communities," said Matt Nilsen, President of the Rotary Cub of Southwest Eureka.  “The proceeds from Thursday's event will benefit the Humboldt County Office of Education's Early Literacy Partner Project.”

Tickets are $40 each and will provide a quintet of tasting martinis to each guest, with full-sized cocktails also available for purchase.  Tickets can be purchased at Redwood Capital Bank and Belle Starr, online through brownpapertickets.com, from any member of the Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka or at the door.  Guests must be 21 years of age to be admitted to the Wharfinger Building for this event.

“If you relish cocktails, expertly and creatively made...a great time with friends and family and a sunny afternoon on our beautiful Bay...then we invite you to join us.  And if you enjoy cocktails as much as we enjoy providing them to you, we'll all have a perfect afternoon,” said Nilsen.
